Title:
I Am Not Prepared to Receive that Which I Desire Most
These ethereal tunes are not born of random concepts conveyed through entangled instruments and a lack of passion, as many instrumental bands are, but rather a sense of purpose and the depression that accompanies real life in the real world. This St. Augustine/Jacksonville band features former members of the dramatic and oft talked about, but recently defunct, Bernard.

Their debut EP I Am Not Prepared to Receive that which I Desire Most, features six songs that lift your hair as they drift into your ears, then take a few minutes to bring the rock when you’ve come with them so far through their musical portrait. If I had to compare them to another band, instrumental or otherwise, Sigur Ros would be more accurate than Crime in Choir or Explosions in the Sky. Their compositions are delicate, but distinctly avant-garde, rather than bordering jam-band as many slower electric guitar-oriented instrumental bands do.

If you are looking for complex songs that are constructed by knowing musicians, then that blood runs through these veins, but if you are looking for honest music that portrays the sincerity and preposterousness of real life in the real world, then these songs have that as well. Don’t just listen to this album, prepare yourself for what this music can bring without offering a single word. This is instrumental rock at its local best. This EP may be difficult to find, but check out their show at the Pineapple Festival at Fuel on April 21st and maybe they will have one for you. Although I’m sure their live show is even more impressive.
